How to be Topp

I think unexpected packages are the most glorious thing!  Yesterday I came home to find a lovely little package from Leanne the Aspiring Librarian.  I was so excited to find these three books and a little note explaining that she wanted me to use them for inspiration.

I have to admit that I am totally perplexed by this book, even the synopsis from Penguin Books confuses me!
"Nigel Molesworth is back, this time taking the tinies in hand and showing that they can survive the first term - as long as you avoid the prefects and show all due respect to Molesworth 1. Back to Skool might be particularly hard on Mater and Pater, but think of those poor new bugs, forced to be their best at Latin, English, foopball and French (Armand in his striped shirt and feeble questions). Just follow his timeless advice, however, and you too could be Topp. "

Thanks darling for the lovely gifts!

Guest Post: Leanne the Aspiring Librarian

If that's the world's smartest man,

God help us.

I am currently making my way through my very first graphic novel. What an incredible experience. I don't know what took me so long! I'm not quite through it, but I have no reservations recommending "Feynman", a biography of the late great physicist Richard Feynman. He is well known for his contributions to quantum electrodynamics, involvement in
the Manhattan Project, and for playing a part in the investigation of the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. He is also well known for his well developed sense of humor.

Purple or Blue?

I got these AMAZ-ING shoes at UO a couple weeks ago and I don't think I've ever gotten so many compliments on something before!  Everyone loves these shoes (even men!) and also love to speculate on whether they are purple or blue.  I like to tell people it's up to them to decide!   What do you think?
 Purple or blue?

I'm also totally in love with this elephant dress that I got from the Buffalo Exchange by Audrey 3+1.  I was there on Saturday and was able to snag another lovely dress by them, hopefully I'll have photos of it to share with you soon!

I made this skirt a couple weeks ago with fabric I bought from Spoonflower.  Isn't it lovely?

Saturday Morning Special

There are NO Doughnuts in Hell

There are no doughnuts in hell
if so the world would smell
aroma seeping through the ground
no longer would hell be renowned
fire and death turned jelly filled
the whole place has become chilled
devil now changed from a faux pas
he seemed to help his own cause
by adding glaze to all his land
and creating evils own doughnut brand
hell transformed to the place to be
heavens people tried to beg and plea
to enter the new holy resting
everyone kept on requesting
send me down to the deepest hollow
tell my friends they can follow
as long as I get my powdery pastry
I won't be afraid of all the mystery
of what happens after eating
my guess is not a welcome greeting
but why not be optimistic
it's not like the devil is sadistic
he's what we call a straight shooter
never has he been deaths recruiter
we can come and go as we please
so long as we pay the doughnut fees
what was the cost of one with sprinkles
not that much he said as his eye twinkles
your soul will be what repays your debt
though it's not time, no not just yet
your time will come when you aren't ready
I hope this doesn't make you feel unsteady
sit back and enjoy your final fritter
and pray that the devil becomes a quitter

Another great poem by my talented brother, Alex.
