Sweet Spring Day

After a long day at work, I came home and immediately made some guacamole (thanks for the avocados Grandma!) and a gin and tonic and enjoyed the amazing weather we're having right now.  Could it be any more perfect in Austin?  I heard that we're supposed to get some showers later in the week, good thing I'll be in Las Vegas!

Twirling only seemed appropriate in this dress.  Leanne gave it to me when I went to Albuquerque and it's not only perfect for spring, but my favorite label, Audrey+1.  Don't worry Leanne, I've got plenty of things for you!

Every time I wear these Betsy Johnson earrings people look at me like I'm crazy, I promise they're supposed to be mismatched!

Surviving SXSW

I don't think I will ever be fully prepared for SXSW when the time comes.  February came and went so fast (even with an extra day!) and I have a March will go by in a blur too!  I know it's time to buckle down and get serious about researching bands and making sure I have the perfect outfits that are totally awesome as well as comfortable and practical.  This is what I'll be shooting for, luckily I have most of these elements already...

1. A good straw hat.  Believe me, you really don't want a sunburnt scalp.  No bueno.

2. Sports bra.  Yes, it's going to be hot and a humid and I'll be spending most of my time outside, there's no way I'm putting on a sweat collecting padded bra.

3. Jean shorts.  I read a couple different blog posts about what other people suggest to wear to SXSW and I think it's pretty ridiculous that most of them recommend wearing a flowy maxi dress.  I don't want to think about the troubles you'll have with all that fabric in a porta-potty when you're buzzed.

4. Comfy (but totally cute) sneakers.  I think sandals would work too but then I think about all the beer (and probably pee) there was in the streets downtown and I want to protect my little toesies.

5. A good, compact camera.

6. Sunscreen, I will be constantly applying and re-applying.

7. Drivers license, always have it readily available and some cash.

8. A small cross body bag, just big enough for the essentials, you don't want to be weighed down during a long day of standing.

9. Edgy accessories, love these spiked hoop earrings!

10. A shweet oversized t-shirt.  Let's the air flow to keep you comfortable.

Now I wouldn't say I'm an expert on SXSW attire, but after some of the stuff I experienced last year, I know I'll be better prepared this year.  Now I just have to figure out what shows to go to!

Purple or Blue?

I got these AMAZ-ING shoes at UO a couple weeks ago and I don't think I've ever gotten so many compliments on something before!  Everyone loves these shoes (even men!) and also love to speculate on whether they are purple or blue.  I like to tell people it's up to them to decide!   What do you think?

I'm also totally in love with this elephant dress that I got from the Buffalo Exchange by Audrey 3+1.  I was there on Saturday and was able to snag another lovely dress by them, hopefully I'll have photos of it to share with you soon!

Let me tell you a story...

Yesterday Robert and I attempted a photoshoot which turned into me running around acting like a crazy person while he took pictures.  I was only going to put the good ones up, but he took so many and they're so much better with subtitles.

What should I do?  Make me look cute!

We walked over to the liquor store to buy Lone Star and Lemonade after I heard that it was a good combo.  It definitely wasn't as bad as I thought, but I need to play with the proportions before I perfect it.

Black and White and Read All Over

Big change is on the way.  I can feel it.  The wind seems to know it as well (and I think the birds do too).  I'm always ready for change and welcome it with open arms sometimes creating it myself. I think it's good for the body, to break from routines or create new ones as often as possible.  The trick is to not let it scare you, you must face it straight on and adapt.  Are there any changes in your life going on right now?  How are you dealing with it?

Floor Essence

When I saw these sandals over at ROMWE I knew I had to have them because they made me do a little dance.  There's something about having something in a traffic stopping color that is just so much fun.  Also, highlighter brights somehow make me look tanner (and I know my legs could use a lot of help! 

My First Tornado Warning

 What a morning it has been!  I made it through my first tornado warning, two very large thunder storms passed over Austin and now my car is very clean!  I absolutely love the overcast, cold, damp weather that has been left behind.  Reminds me how much I want to move up north...maybe some day.
