One Whole Year

Earlier this week I alluded to the fact that this would be a big month for Robert and me and that is because we are celebrating our first anniversary together!  So if you don't mind, I'm going to gush a little about our relationship...


I had signed up for the online dating site Ok Cupid because my darling friend Sarah suggested I should. (Thanks Sarah!)  I went on several first dates and only a few seconds dates, but I never really connected with anyone.  I was at a point where I was getting tired of all the strange messages and then this happened:

  I will check those out. So your new to Austin? How is this wonderful city treating you so far? Catch any bands yet? I love Austin, yes I was born here...but there is just so much to do and see!

  I've lived here about 6 months now. I've caught a couple shows, but nothing that was super fantastic, unfortunately.

  Yeah I guess its kinda hit or miss with the venues around here. I went out to Emo's a week or so ago to see my favorite band play. But I'm waiting for SXSW to start, lots of free shows! I'm Robert by the way, Whats your name?

  Hi Roxanne, its nice to meet you. :) Emo's is cool, I like it because its laid back. I'm not a fan of dance clubs, so i find sanctuary in bars that i don't have to bust a move in. And that's my lame attempt at humor. So it goes, right? :)

  So I know that you have no idea who I am. Obviously I'm some guy that keeps asking you weird questions. But, maybe we could sit and have some coffee together, or tea. I would love to know more about your art, i am always looking to meet another creative person! If not no big deal, i know meeting people online can be weird. :)

I could tell after spending some time with him that he was a genuine person and I really appreciated that so we moved on to dinner.  The next day we went to the movies and shared our first kiss and the day after we got ice cream, searched for a photobooth and kissed a whole lot more.  Just 4 months after that day we moved in with each other and I couldn't be happier.  Robert is so wonderful and puts up with my crazy spells.  We have ups and downs like any couple, but I still can't believe how much I love him considering we've only been together for a year. I feel so fortunate that we found each other.

We've got a big weekend ahead of us, so hopefully I'll come back with some fun photos!  Have a great weekend everyone!
